Induction of new Honorary Fellow

The Principal and Fellows of Harris Manchester College were delighted to induct alumna Professor Valerie Smith, President of Swarthmore College, as an Honorary Fellow in the Chapel on Wednesday 22nd May.

Professor Smith is an author and distinguished scholar of African-American literature and culture. She is the recipient of many honours and awards, including Princeton University President's Award for Distinguished Teaching.

Under Professor Smith’s leadership, Swarthmore recently concluded 'Changing Lives, Changing the World', the largest comprehensive fundraising campaign in the College’s history. The campaign raised more than $440 million, including more than $110 million for financial aid.
